MASCHERONE FOUNTAIN

SThe fountain is situated in the square and was built in 1881. It has an enormous architectonic façade structure split on two levels. The higher of the two has a semi-circular gable and features a clock . The lower door with ashlar brickwork closes between two columns against the fountain itself inserted into an arch niche.

It is characterized by a mask in the centre and two marine creatures on each side which spurt water into the basin below. Above this, the stem of the city and a marble slate which celebrates not only the rediscovery of the ancient Etruscan water strata of Cerveteri but also the date of its erection.
