La Rocca is in the centre of Medieval Cerveteri and comprises, as well as the real castle, the part which was the ancient Borg for some time known as Boccetta. From as early as the 11th century it appeared well equipped with battlement walls which still exist today and run along the edge of the rocky cliff from where it stands.
In the area of Boccetta situated below the castle there are the remains of a sighting tower with a circular base, which dominates a great portion of the land and the sea. The Rocca has lost its imposing fortress appearance over the years however, there are historical monuments and churches on the inside of its walls which are still well worth visiting.
