Leaving the historical centre and going up Via St. Angelo, you reach the church and convent of St. Michael the Archangel. It was founded at the end of the year 400 by the Augustine fathers. On the outside it used to be surrounded by a wall along the unprotected sides there is a bell tower. The church has a historical floor plan with a single chamber featuring a barrel vault ceiling and a triumphal arch which opens onto a square apse with a cruciform roof. The internal space is supported by parastas which divide the environment into 3 spans. Two altars on the side walls face towards the centre of the nave and over them hang two interesting canvas paintings depicting scenes from the day to day life of St. Augustine. In the centre of the wall in the apse above the high altar there is a painting on canvas of the archangel defeating Satan. On the sides of this there are wall paintings representing St. Antonio and St. Monica.
